The brief

Turn a serious track car into something completely individual

When Lee brought his Renault Megane R.S. track car to P1 Wraps, the brief was simple: turn an already serious-looking track car into something completely individual.

This wasn't a commercial branding project or a race team working to an existing corporate identity. It was a private project for an enthusiast who wanted his own car to look every bit as special as the build underneath it.

The result is a completely bespoke motorsport livery, combining gloss turquoise, gloss black and motorsport-inspired graphics to create a Renault Megane R.S. that looks right at home in the paddock, pit lane or out on circuit.

And it's definitely not one you're going to mistake for another car.

The customer journey

From a sit-down at P1 HQ to a one-off livery

Every case study follows the same shape: what the customer wanted, how we designed it, what we used, and the details that make it finished rather than just modified.

Sitting down with the customer before designing the car

For custom track car graphics and motorsport livery design, we don't believe in simply picking a template and changing the colours.

Lee came into P1 Wraps HQ in Bognor Regis and sat down with us to go through the project properly. We discussed the style he liked, colours, graphics, the character of the car and the overall direction he wanted to take it.

Gold was originally being considered as one of the main colours. After looking at the options together, Lee took some of our guidance and we moved towards turquoise instead. We think that decision absolutely made the car.

Designing the motorsport livery in Adobe Illustrator

The livery was designed in-house by P1 Wraps using Adobe Illustrator, allowing us to build the graphics specifically around the shape and body lines of the car.

Rather than treating the vehicle as a flat canvas, the angles, stripes, colour changes and graphic elements were positioned to work with the Megane's aggressive body shape and give it a genuine motor racing livery appearance.

The objective wasn't simply to wrap the car turquoise. It was to create a cohesive race car wrap design where the graphics, colour, wheels and details all looked like they had been designed together from day one.

One of the biggest decisions was the colour. Against the gloss black sections and contrasting motorsport graphics, the turquoise gives the car an incredibly distinctive appearance while still letting the smaller details in the livery stand out.

Track cars live a very different life to road cars, so we wanted a premium automotive wrapping film from one of the industry's established manufacturers rather than compromising on the material.

Colour-matched wheels complete the transformation

We didn't want the transformation to stop with the vinyl. While the Renault was with us, the wheels were removed, stripped and professionally painted in a colour-matched turquoise, chosen to complement the wrap as closely as possible.

Rather than organising the wrapping, wheel removal and wheel refinishing separately, we coordinate the work while the vehicle is already with us. On Lee's Megane, matching the wheels to the new wrap colour completely tied the project together.

It's one of those details that takes a car from looking modified to looking properly finished as one complete design.

Safe wheel removal using HILIAN Engineering hub stands

With the wheels removed for refinishing, the Megane was supported using our HILIAN Engineering hub stands, exceptionally well-engineered equipment designed to support a vehicle securely from the hubs while its wheels are off.

For customers leaving performance cars, track cars and valuable vehicles with us, details like this matter. We invest in the equipment needed to look after the vehicle properly throughout the entire process, not just the parts of the job you see when it's handed back.

Motorsport graphics are all about the details

A good motorsport livery needs to work from every angle. The Renault combines the turquoise and black base with R.S. graphics, contrasting stripes and carefully positioned motorsport-inspired details across the body.

From a distance and at speed, the overall shape and colour blocking need to work. Up close, the smaller graphics and installation details need to hold up just as well. That balance was a major part of this project.
